Are you making these 5 mistakes while caring for your baby’s delicate skin?

I can tell, you go all the way in taking care of your baby in every way. After all, only a mother can relate!

But unknowingly we make some mistakes while we try to care for the delicate skin of our babies. Results are rashes, allergy, dryness, etc. So today we’re covering 5 common mistakes that you shouldn’t make while caring for your baby’s skin

1)    Wash/Bathe too much

You may want to wash your baby the moment you find him/her catching dirt, or immediately after wetting pants.

Don’t!

The baby’s skin is 5 times thinner than adults. Too much washing will dry it. So limit bathing your baby to once a day (and give up that bad habit of washing every now and then)

2)    Not Shower/Wash at all!

He/she is going to catch cold, so no shower today!

Really? Catching cold has nothing to do with shower, but it has got everything to do with germs.

So you should shower your baby with lukewarm water when the sun is high enough in the day (10 AM – 12 PM) usually.

3)    Using Adult Soap

Toilet soaps are meant for adults. These are very high in alkalis, colorants, and fragrance – all of which are harmful for your baby’s skin. So pick a baby soap which is moisturizing enough. And do not forget to use a moisturizing lotion after showering your baby.

4)    Using Adult Lotion/Talc

Is that the only lotion bottle in the house? Let me see it! Oh, that’s an adult one! :P

Just like soaps, adult lotions and talk contains preservatives and fragrance in high concentration. For your baby’s sake, get a baby lotion which is moisturizing enough. And keep it for the two of you!

5)    Massaging with Raw Oils!

I’ve nothing against oil massage. But common Bangladeshi oils (mustard for example) are unrefined or even worse; unfiltered.

These raw oils can contain toxic elements and are usually high in acid value. So for your kids, don’t go for the raw.

Rather go with what doctors recommend with their eyes closed: Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Key Takeaways:

Today I tried to tell you just one thing: Baby’s skin is thinner, more delicate, and more sensitive as compared to adult skin.

You must take different measures while you take care of your baby’s skin. What fits you, won’t fit your baby!
